The inspiration for Story Land came to Bob and Ruth Morrell from
an old woman they met in Germany, while Bob was serving in the US Army in the early 1950s. Frau Von Arps had created
a collection of small dolls based on characters from childrens stories, and she suggested the Morrells build a small village
to house them when they returned home to New Hampshires White Mountains. Bob and Ruth took her suggestion much further,
deciding instead to bring some of those characters and stories to life in a setting with green grass and flowers, where children
are safe and busy at every turn.

Wildcat Mountain has been a family favorite for over 40 years. It
was the summer of 1933 that the depression born civilian conservation corps, armed with axes and cross-cut saws, started clearing
the Wildcat trail, one of the first ski racing trails built in the United States. Designed by Charley Proctor, the all-around
ski champion of Canada in 1927, it was designated as a class "A" racing trail
